  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
  • Friday: 07:30 – 12:30

Join Our Grounds Maintenance Team

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sports Groundsman to join a respected Local Authority service based in DE7 4RA.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled turf professional to help maintain and prepare a variety of high-quality sports surfaces used by local clubs, schools and the wider community. The role involves maintaining fine turf areas and ensuring sports pitches are presented to a high standard throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain fine turf surfaces including:
    • Cricket squares and outfields
    • Bowling greens
    • Croquet lawns
    • Golf course areas
  • Prepare and mark out sports pitches including:
    • Football
    • Rugby
    • Cricket
    • Baseball
  • Operate pedestrian and ride-on mowing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Carry out fertilising, aeration, renovation and general turf maintenance programmes.
  • Apply pesticides and treatments in accordance with PA1 and PA6 qualifications.
  • Undertake seasonal pitch preparations and end-of-season renovations.
  • Monitor playing surfaces and identify maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all grounds are maintained to the highest standards of safety and presentation.
  • Maintain machinery, tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Work safely and comply with all health and safety procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience maintaining fine turf sports surfaces.
  • Experience working on cricket, bowls, croquet or golf facilities.
  • Experience marking out sports pitches including football, rugby, cricket and baseball.
  • PA1 and PA6 qualifications.
  • Certification and experience operating pedestrian and ride-on rotary and cylinder mowers.
  • Strong understanding of sports turf maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
