SQL Database Engineer / Data Warehouse Developer

Location: Bradford (Preferred Onsite, Hybrid 3 Days Considered)
Rate: £500-£550 per day (Inside IR35)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Engineer / Data Warehouse Developer to support a major public sector data programme, helping deliver high-quality data solutions and statutory reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong SQL and database expertise who enjoys working closely with stakeholders to design, optimise and maintain critical data warehouse solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain SQL Server database and data warehouse solutions.
• Optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing and database administration best practices.
• Design and maintain efficient data structures and data architecture to support reporting requirements.
• Gather and translate business requirements from stakeholders into technical data solutions.
• Support statutory data submissions, ensuring data quality, accuracy and compliance.
• Produce robust SQL code for ETL processes, reporting and data validation.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Advanced SQL Server development skills.
• Strong Data Warehouse (DW) development experience.
• Solid Database Administration (DBA) knowledge, particularly:
• Performance tuning
• Query optimisation
• Indexing strategies
• Database troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of data architecture and data modelling principles.
• Experience designing scalable and efficient database structures.
• Experience working with complex data standards and structured datasets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills.

Desirable

• Experience working within large, complex or regulated organisations.
• Experience supporting statutory or regulatory reporting.
• ETL development experience.
• Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or similar ETL tools.
• Understanding of data governance and information management principles.
