A well‑established UK structural steel fabrication business is seeking an experienced Steel Fabrication Manager to take ownership of workshop operations and drive high‑quality, efficient production across a busy fabrication facility. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role overseeing all fabrication activities, ensuring output, quality, safety and delivery performance remain consistently high.

YOUR NEW ROLE 

As Steel Fabrication Manager, you will lead the day‑to‑day running of a structural steel workshop, managing fabrication teams, welders and technicians to deliver accurate, compliant and timely production.

You will be responsible for turning engineering drawings into high‑quality fabricated steel components, maintaining strict quality standards, and coordinating seamless dispatch to active construction sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead and manage workshop operations, fabrication teams and welders to meet production targets

  • Ensure all work complies with engineering drawings, specifications and welding procedures

  • Maintain rigorous QA/QC standards, ensuring zero‑defect output and compliance with industry codes

  • Oversee logistics, dispatch and delivery sequencing for steel elements to live construction sites

  • Uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with OHS regulations

  • Manage material inventory, workshop machinery, overhead cranes and resource planning

  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, driving continuous improvement across the workshop

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Manager, Fabrication Manager, Production Manager, or Senior Foreman within structural steel fabrication

  • Strong technical ability to read and interpret complex structural engineering drawings

  • Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to motivate and manage fabrication teams

  • Experience coordinating steel deliveries and logistics for construction projects

  • Relevant trade background (Boilermaking/Welding) or engineering qualification (Mechanical/Civil)

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding standards and workshop safety
