Overview:
Part of civils team on new build EfW. Heavy RC structures - waste bunker, tipping hall, boiler house, flue gas treatment, turbine hall, retaining walls, pile caps, ground beams, water treatment.This is not light mesh — it's H25-H40, large diameter, heavy tonnage, double-layer mats, 3D cages.Duties:Read and interpret RC drawings, bending schedules, GA's, section detailsSet out work from gridlines / shutter faces — check cover with spacersCut, bend, measure rebar using power tools — petrol cutters, bendersPrefab heavy cages: pile caps, ground beams, columns, walls, slabs, bundsFix in-situ: waste bunker walls (often 1m thick, double mat), thick slabs, water retaining structuresTie bars and mesh with nips — ensure correct laps, stagger, cover (typically 50-75mm on EFW)Install cast-in items: ferrules, halfoen channels, HD bolts, starter bars for steel frameInstall and lift prefab cages / mats by crane — slinger banksman duties, use of lifting plansAssist concrete pours — check steel during pour, maintain coverWork at height and in deep pits / confined bunker — harnesses, edge protectionMaintain tidy work area, follow RAMS, permits, NAECI / site safety rulesQuality checks: bar count, spacing, cover, tie quality — snag with engineerRequirements:Blue CSCS NVQ L2 Steel Fixing — mandatory on EFW3+ years heavy civils / power station / EfW / water treatment experienceCan read drawings properly — not just follow chargehandFull PPE, tools: nips, belt, reel, tape, levelsDesirable: CSCS Slinger, IPAF, Confined Space, CCNSG / Safety Passport, EUSR
