Estimator – Structural Steel / Architectural Metalwork

Location: Walthamstow, East London
Salary: £30,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

An established structural steel and architectural metalwork fabricator based in Walthamstow is looking to recruit an Estimator to join its commercial team.

This is a great opportunity for an estimator with experience in structural steel, architectural metalwork, fabrication or a similar specialist subcontracting environment.

The company is open to candidates at different levels of experience, with the salary ranging from £30,000 to £60,000 depending on your background and ability.

The Role

You will be responsible for pricing a range of structural steel and architectural metalwork projects, working from drawings, specifications and tender information.

Typical duties will include:

• Preparing estimates and quotations for structural steel and metalwork projects
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Carrying out take-offs and measuring quantities
• Obtaining prices for materials, labour and subcontracted works
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors
• Preparing detailed cost breakdowns
• Assessing fabrication and installation requirements
• Identifying potential commercial risks within tender documents
• Preparing and submitting competitive tenders
• Liaising with clients, contractors, project managers and the internal fabrication team
• Reviewing tender opportunities and helping decide which projects to pursue
• Supporting projects through handover from estimating into delivery

The Candidate

Applicants should have previous experience within one or more of the following areas:

• Structural steel
• Architectural metalwork
• Steel fabrication
• Secondary steelwork
• Balustrades, staircases and handrails
• General metalwork
• Specialist construction subcontracting

You should have a good understanding of drawings and specifications and be comfortable producing accurate estimates for fabrication and installation works.

The position could suit an experienced Estimator looking for a senior role, or someone earlier in their estimating career who already has relevant steel or metalwork experience and wants to develop further.

Package

£30,000 – £60,000 per annum depending on experience

This is a permanent position with an established fabricator offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work on a varied range of structural steel and architectural metalwork projects across London and the surrounding areas.
