  • Support system integration, validation, testing and production activities
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, design issues and performance concerns
  • Coordinate with suppliers of steering components and systems
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods, including 8D and fault tree analysis, to support root cause investigations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of steering system design and validation processes

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Systems Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in vehicle systems engineering, steering system development or chassis engineering
  • Understanding of mechanical steering, electric power steering and steering system fundamentals
  • Knowledge of steering geometry and vehicle dynamics principles, including steering feel, response and stability
  • Experience supporting vehicle testing, validation activities, requirements management and DVP&R documentation
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD tools such as CATIA, NX or Creo, and engineering documentation
  • Understanding of FMEA, DFMEA, 8D and structured engineering problem-solving methods

  • Awareness of suspension systems and their interaction with vehicle dynamics
  • Exposure to simulation tools such as ADAMS or other vehicle dynamics software
  • Experience with data acquisition, test analysis and systems engineering tools
  • Understanding of the vehicle development lifecycle from concept through to production

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to work on UK defence projects where applicable
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, potentially including clearance up to Secret level
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across design, simulation, testing and programme teams
  • A customer-focused, delivery-oriented and detail-conscious approach to engineering
