Are you an experienced Building Surveyor with a strong background in asset appraisal and stock condition surveys? We are looking for a skilled professional to play a key role in assessing and improving a large and diverse housing portfolio, helping to shape future investment and maintenance programmes.

The Role
As a Building Surveyor - Asset Appraisal, you will take the lead on stock condition inspections, delivering professional surveying services and providing expert technical advice across residential properties and related housing assets.
You will be responsible for carrying out detailed condition surveys, identifying defects, assessing asset performance, and making recommendations that support future capital investment and planned maintenance programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed stock condition surveys of residential properties, communal areas, garages, and associated housing assets.
- Inspect buildings internally and externally, identifying defects, maintenance requirements, and investment priorities.
- Produce accurate survey reports and technical recommendations.
- Support the development of rolling investment and asset management programmes.
- Provide expert advice on building defects, repairs, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle planning.
- Undertake feasibility studies and detailed property assessments to determine project viability and best-value solutions.
- Advise on sustainable, energy-efficient, and accessible design solutions.
- Support the delivery of environmental and carbon reduction objectives through practical surveying recommendations.
- Provide guidance and technical support to colleagues and stakeholders where required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in Building Surveying, Asset Appraisal, or Stock Condition Surveying.
- Strong knowledge of housing assets, building construction, maintenance, and defect diagnosis.
- Experience producing technical reports and feasibility studies.
- A solid understanding of asset management principles and investment planning.
- Knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency, accessibility standards, and modern surveying practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to a range of audiences.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
