Stock Controller - Role Description

We are looking for an experienced Stock Controller to join a busy, fast-paced FMCG environment.
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, conducting perpetual stock takes, investigating discrepancies and ensuring stock integrity is maintained at all times.
Working closely with production, warehouse and goods-in teams, you will play a key role in minimising stock loss, maintaining accurate reporting and ensuring stock management systems are kept fully up to date.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular perpetual stock takes across raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
  • Investigate, report and resolve stock discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate stock records using SAP or an equivalent ERP system.
  • Reconcile physical stock counts against system records and make necessary updates.
  • Identify trends in stock discrepancies and highlight opportunities for process improvement.
  • Monitor stock movements across Goods In, production and despatch to ensure full traceability.
  • Work closely with production, warehouse and transport teams to ensure the smooth movement of stock.
  • Support month-end and year-end stock reporting and audits.
  • Operate FLT equipment safely to assist with stock counts and movements where required.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety standards are followed at all times.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for all stock control activities.
  • Regrade or amend stock where required and authorised.
  • Support Goods In and Goods Out teams with day-to-day stock queries and discrepancies.
 
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience within a similar Stock Controller or inventory role, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing or food production.
Strong working knowledge of SAP or an equivalent stock management/ERP system.
Confident using Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
Proven experience conducting perpetual stock takes and investigating stock discrepancies.
A valid FLT licence, such as Counterbalance and/or Reach, would be advantageous.
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise across different departments.
Highly organised with a methodical and structured approach.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
Self-motivated, driven and committed to accuracy.
Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities.
Proactive and able to identify potential stock issues before they become bigger problems.
Open-minded and willing to adopt new systems, processes and ways of working.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
This is a site-based position.
