Contract: Full-Time, Fixed Term (6 Months)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence required. Company van provided for business use.
Site Requirements: Random Drug & Alcohol testing may be conducted in accordance with company policy.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Stores Coordinator to support the effective day-to-day operation of our Stores function in Southampton. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring materials, consumables, tooling and stock are available to support rail maintenance and production activities safely, efficiently and on time.
Working closely with Production, Maintenance and Logistics teams, you will be responsible for managing stock, coordinating material movements, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and operational procedures.
This role also requires travel between company depots and supplier locations using a company-provided vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
Stores Management
- Maintain accurate stock, materials and order databases.
- Receive, inspect, book in and issue materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Carry out regular stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure all materials are correctly labelled, stored and easily accessible.
- Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment of Stores consumables.
- Coordinate tooling orders in response to operational requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming and stored materials, reporting any discrepancies, shortages or damage.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness within the Stores area.
- Ensure the security of Stores operations and inventory at all times.
- Monitor depot fire-fighting equipment and escalate any issues appropriately.
Logistics & Material Handling
- Pick, pack and prepare materials to support operational and maintenance programmes.
- Ensure materials are delivered to the correct locations within required timescales.
- Safely load and unload vehicles in line with manual handling and safety requirements.
- Complete daily and weekly checks on material-handling equipment and associated systems.
- Inspect storage facilities to ensure materials are stored appropriately and safely.
- Identify and escalate any storage risks or non-conformances.
- Raise authorised transport requests for material movements between suppliers, depots and operational locations.
- Travel between company sites and supplier locations using the company-provided vehicle as required.
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Comply with all company, site and Stores procedures.
- Ensure materials are handled, stored and transported safely.
- Maintain awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Follow all relevant legislation, company policies and operational standards.
- Support compliance initiatives and demonstrate the company's "Talk to Me" safety culture and reporting ethos.
- Participate in site compliance requirements, including random Drug & Alcohol testing where applicable.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Basic computer literacy and confidence using computer-based systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work accurately and methodically within a busy Stores or logistics environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications
Essential
