The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Storeman to join a busy and well-organised warehouse operation.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with previous warehouse, stores or engineering environment experience, who is confident managing stock, preparing equipment for dispatch and operating a forklift safely.
You will play an important role in keeping the stores and warehouse running efficiently, ensuring parts and equipment are correctly received, stored, prepared and dispatched.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect and process incoming deliveries and supplier shipments.
- Pick and prepare spare parts, pumps, motors and equipment for workshop and customer orders.
- Pack and prepare equipment safely for transportation.
- Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular stocktakes and cycle counts.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or low-stock items.
- Keep warehouse shelves clean, organised, correctly labelled and fully stocked.
- Rotate stock to ensure older items are used first.
- Complete dispatch paperwork, waybills and relevant documentation accurately.
- Operate forklift equipment safely and responsibly.
- Carry out daily forklift and warehouse safety checks and report defects or hazards.
- Carry out basic forklift checks, including oil, water and battery levels.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse environment.
- Carry out basic preparation tasks such as lubricating, spray-painting and packaging equipment when required.
- Support colleagues during busy periods and assist with general warehouse duties as required.
The successful Storeman will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, stores or stock control role.
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, mechanical or industrial environment would be advantageous.
- A valid forklift licence and practical forklift experience.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate stock records.
- A reliable, organised and hands-on approach to work.
- Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting the wider team.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved with a variety of warehouse and stores duties.
