Job Description:

IMH Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Street Scene Manager for our client based in Doncaster, DN5.

Key Duties

  • Day to management of street scene services including street cleansing and grounds maintenance, in line with the service standards and targets.
  • Manage teams of operational staff, setting performance expectations, monitoring productivity and addressing any issues.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislations, health & safety and council policies.
  • Manage operational budgets
  • Respond to queries, complaints and service requests
  • Work with key stakeholders (councillors, community groups, other council departments)

Core Experience

  • Proven experience working within local government street scene operations, including grounds maintenance, street cleansing, and associated environmental services.
  • Strong understanding of operational service standards, health & safety requirements, and compliance within a public‑sector context.

Operational & Resource Management

  • Demonstrated ability to deploy, coordinate and monitor resources (people, vehicles, equipment) to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Experience planning daily/weekly work schedules, responding to service demands, and reallocating resources to meet priorities.

People Management

  • Experience supervising operational teams, including task allocation, performance monitoring, coaching, and supporting staff development.
  • Ability to manage attendance, address performance issues, and maintain positive working relationships across teams.

Budget & Financial Awareness

  • Working knowledge of budget management and monitoring expenditure within operational services.
  • Ability to contribute to forecasting, track spend against budgets and identify opportunities for efficiencies.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for liaising with staff, managers, contractors and the public.
  • Competent in using digital systems for scheduling, reporting, and recording operational data.
  • Commitment to high service standards, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

They need to have a full driving licence and obviously be able to drive. Working hours are 37hrs p/w, shift pattern could be 5 days Mon-Fri or 4 days e.g. Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri
