Structural Design Engineer

Structural Engineer - Altrincham, Greater Manchester

Vertical Recruitment is working with a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to appoint a Structural Engineer to join their expanding Civil & Structural team in Greater Manchester.

With a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across commercial, residential, education, industrial, infrastructure and regeneration projects, this business continues to grow throughout the UK and Ireland. As a result, they are looking to strengthen their Structural Engineering team with the appointment of an ambitious engineer looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

This opportunity would suit a Structural Engineer with around 3 to 5 years' consultancy experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility, work closely with senior engineers, and progress towards Chartership within a collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Structural Engineer, you will be involved in the design and delivery of a varied portfolio of projects from concept through to completion. Working alongside experienced engineers and directors, you will contribute to schemes across a range of sectors while gaining exposure to all stages of project delivery.

You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills, build client relationships, and take ownership of project elements as your experience grows.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Producing structural calculations and engineering designs across a range of materials including steel, concrete, masonry and timber

🔹 Assisting with the preparation of detailed design drawings, specifications and technical reports

🔹 Undertaking site visits, surveys and structural inspections

🔹 Supporting project delivery from feasibility through to construction

🔹 Liaising with architects, contractors, developers and other design disciplines

🔹 Attending project meetings and contributing to technical discussions

🔹 Supporting senior engineers in delivering high-quality engineering solutions

About You

🔹 Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering

🔹 3 to 5 years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy

🔹 Experience designing building structures across a range of sectors

🔹 Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes

🔹 Experience using structural design software such as MasterSeries, SCIA, Tekla Structural Designer or similar

🔹 Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

🔹 Ambition to progress towards Chartership with IStructE or ICE
