Mechanical Project Manager (Ductwork)

Location: Central London or also office in Kent (Can work from either office)

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in ductwork installation to join our growing team. This is a site-focused role delivering high-quality HVAC and ductwork systems across a range of projects.

We place a strong emphasis on long-term development and offer ongoing in-house training to strengthen any areas where additional support is needed.

Key Responsibilities

Site Delivery & Coordination

  • Manage day-to-day ductwork installation activities on site

  • Coordinate labour, subcontractors, and materials to meet programme requirements

  • Ensure installation works are delivered to specification and quality standards

  • Monitor progress and report against project milestones

Technical Coordination

  • Interpret and work from construction drawings and BIM models

  • Liaise with design/CAD teams to resolve on-site technical issues

  • Coordinate with other trades (MEP, structural, architectural) to avoid clashes

  • Ensure correct installation of ventilation and fire-rated ductwork systems

Fire-Rated Systems Oversight

  • Oversee installation of fire-rated ductwork systems, including riser shafts, smoke extract, and kitchen extract systems

  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. BS 476, BS EN 1366, DW/144)

  • Verify correct installation of fire protection methods (fire stopping, supports, insulation, etc.)

  • Coordinate inspections and documentation for fire compliance and sign-off

Quality Assurance

  • Carry out regular inspections of installed ductwork, including fire-rated systems

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements

  • Manage snagging, testing, and commissioning support

  • Drive a “right first time” approach on site

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce site health and safety procedures and standards

  • Prepare and implement RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)

  • Conduct toolbox talks and site safety briefings

  • Ensure all works comply with company and statutory HSE requirements

Client & Site Team Interaction

  • Attend site meetings and provide progress updates

  • Act as the primary point of contact for ductwork-related site matters

  • Build effective relationships with main contractors and other trades

Key Requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience in a site-based ductwork, HVAC, or MEP role

  • Strong background in ductwork installation and coordination on live projects

  • Hands-on experience with fire-rated ductwork systems and fire compliance requirements

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of ductwork systems and installation methods

Solid knowledge of fire-rated ductwork systems, fire stopping, and passive fire protection

Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g. BS EN 1366, DW/144)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BIM models

Good understanding of site coordination and sequencing of works

Qualifications

CSCS Card (essential)

SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)

Relevant mechanical/building services qualification (desirable)
