The Opportunity
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for providing independent quality assurance and quality control support to project delivery teams. The role ensures that products, equipment, inspections and associated documentation meet customer, contractual, regulatory and quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Identify quality related risks and opportunities within the supply chain and work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve product conformity issues.
  • Review and approve supplier quality arrangements in accordance with project and customer requirements, including manufacturing and inspection documentation such as:
  • Quality Control Plans (QCPs)
  • Weld schedules and procedures
  • NDE procedures
  • Inspection documentation
  • Plan, arrange and undertake inspection activities, including coordination with inspectors and customer representatives.
  • Participate in supplier kick off meetings to ensure quality requirements are clearly understood by all stakeholders.
  • Support effective document control processes associated with project deliverables.
  • Assist with the implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from non-conformances.
  • Provide quality related cost and man hour estimates for bids, tenders and project delivery activities.
  • Liaise directly with customers regarding quality assurance, quality control and inspection requirements.
  • Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure design documentation adequately defines quality and inspection requirements.
  • Manage and support the closure of quality related nonconformances and quality issues.
  • Monitor compliance with project quality arrangements, escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Review enquiry, tender and contract documentation to identify specific quality requirements outside standard quality management systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership through promoting safety, wellbeing, inclusion and continuous improvement.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Manufacturing apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Experience in the manufacture, assembly and testing of specialist engineered assemblies.
  • Experience developing and working with Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

It’s great if you also have the following
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Weld Inspection qualification such as CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent.
  • Auditor experience.
  • Experience gained within nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of:
  • Fabrication and welding techniques
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  • Mechanical inspection
  • Electrical assembly and testing
  • Material certification review

The setting for the role
The Quality Control Engineer operates within a nuclear project delivery environment, providing independent quality oversight across engineering, manufacturing and supply chain activities to ensure products, inspections and associated documentation comply with customer, contractual and regulatory requirements. Working closely with project teams, suppliers and client representatives, the role supports product conformity, inspection activities and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle, with a hybrid working arrangement based in Warrington and occasional travel to supplier and customer sites as required.
