This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer with a background in building structures who is looking to join a smaller, collaborative consultancy working on a varied portfolio of architecturally led projects.
The position can be considered at Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer level, with salary and responsibilities reflecting experience.
The Role As a Structural Engineer, you will be involved in the design and delivery of a variety of building structures, alongside undertaking structural surveys and inspections.
Responsibilities will include:
- Producing structural calculations, designs and drawings for a range of building structures.
- Structural design using steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Working on architecturally led residential, commercial and other building projects.
- Working closely with architects, clients and other construction professionals.
- Undertaking structural surveys of domestic and residential properties.
- Investigating structural defects including cracking, settlement and subsidence.
- Preparing technical reports and recommendations following site inspections.
- Managing your own projects and workload with support from the wider team.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate.
- A minimum of 4 years’ post-graduate structural engineering experience.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience designing a variety of building structures across different materials and project types.
- Good knowledge of structural design using steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Experience working within a UK structural or civil engineering consultancy.
- Good knowledge of relevant structural design standards and Building Regulations.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise directly with clients and architects.
- Experience undertaking structural surveys and defect diagnosis would be particularly beneficial.
- Chartered status with IStructE or ICE would be advantageous, although candidates working towards chartership will also be considered.
- £40,000 – £55,000, depending on experience.
