Senior Structural Engineer
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing Birmingham office.
Working as part of a highly collaborative structural engineering team, you will take a leading role in delivering a wide variety of projects across sectors including education, healthcare, residential, commercial and urban regeneration.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer who is confident leading projects, managing client relationships and mentoring junior engineers, while continuing to develop their own career within a progressive consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the structural design and technical delivery of projects from concept through to construction.
·Manage the day-to-day coordination of projects, ensuring programmes and deliverables are achieved.
·Represent the business at client meetings, design team meetings and site visits.
·Design structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
·Carry out structural assessments, refurbishment designs and alterations to existing buildings.
·Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
·Work closely with BIM technicians to produce coordinated design information.
·Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes and relevant industry standards.
·Manage project quality, budgets and timescales.
·Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and early-career engineers.
·Coordinate effectively with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
·Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and project delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
·Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
·Several years' experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy.
·Strong experience delivering structural design projects independently.
·Good knowledge of steel, concrete, timber and masonry design.
·Experience producing structural calculations using industry-standard software.
·Sound understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards and UK Building Regulations.
·Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
·Strong organisational and project management abilities.
·Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.
Desirable Skills
·Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE).
·Experience of refurbishment, alterations and existing building projects.
·Knowledge of BIM workflows and collaborative design environments.
·Experience mentoring junior engineers.
·Interest in sustainable, low-carbon structural design.
