Structural Revit Technician
Leeds

If you're a Revit Technician who enjoys the technical side of building structures but wants somewhere you can take a bit more ownership of your work, this could be a really good move.

I'm working with an established engineering Consultancy in Leeds that is looking to add an experienced Structural Revit Technician to its building structures team.

They have a strong workload across the UK and work on a genuinely varied mix of projects, covering commercial, industrial, residential, retail, leisure, healthcare and education. That means you won't find yourself modelling the same type of building over and over again, and there's a good mix of both project size and complexity.

The role itself is more involved than simply being handed Engineers' mark-ups and working through a drawing list.

You'll work closely with the Structural Engineers and wider design team, producing and coordinating structural models and drawings from concept through to detailed design. Revit will naturally be a big part of the role, alongside AutoCAD and Navisworks, with the opportunity to get involved in coordination, design meetings and the wider delivery of projects.

The Consultancy has invested heavily in its digital capabilities and BIM is an important part of how projects are delivered. Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks all form part of the software setup, alongside a wider suite of structural design and engineering packages.

What are they looking for?

You'll ideally have around 4+ years' experience working as a Structural Revit Technician, preferably within an engineering Consultancy or similar building structures environment.
A good working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is important, together with an understanding of BIM and experience producing structural information through the different stages of a project.
Beyond the software, they want somebody who actually understands what they're modelling. Someone who can visualise structures in 3D, work through details, pick up coordination issues and have a sensible conversation with the Engineers rather than simply producing whatever has been marked up.
As you settle into the role, there'll be opportunities to take more ownership of projects, attend meetings and help less experienced Technicians within the team.

What's it like to work there?

This is an established Consultancy, but it isn't somewhere that feels stuck in its ways. There's been continued investment in technology and training, and they're keen to develop people internally rather than constantly looking outside the business when more senior positions become available.
For somebody joining at Technician level, there is a genuine route towards Senior Technician and beyond rather than this simply being another sideways move.
They also offer a good degree of common-sense flexibility around the working day, alongside support for professional qualifications and development.

The office is particularly handy if you live outside Leeds and normally dread the commute into the centre. It's on the outskirts of Leeds city centre, around a minute from the motorway network, and there's free parking at the office.

The wider package includes 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, a 5% employer pension contribution, healthcare benefits, funded professional development, payment of a professional subscription, regular staff lunches and company socials.

For a Structural Revit Technician who wants good building structures work, more involvement in projects and somewhere they can realistically progress, it's well worth a conversation.
