Responsibilities and duties of the Supplier Quality and Development Engineer role
Reporting to the Quality Manager you will:
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments in accordance with CSA N299 and ASME NQA-1 requirements.
- Ensure suppliers maintain robust quality management programmes aligned with nuclear regulatory expectations.
- Review and approve supplier quality documentation including manuals, procedures, inspection plans, and quality records.
- Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Support suppliers with corrective and preventive action implementation using root cause analysis methodologies.
- Provide guidance and training to suppliers on nuclear quality standards and customer expectations.
- Ensure supplier readiness for nuclear-related product launches, engineering changes, and modifications.
- Validate supplier manufacturing and inspection processes through PPAP, FAI, and other quality assurance tools.
- Maintain comprehensive records of supplier audits, evaluations, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Ensure full traceability and documentation integrity in line with CSA N299 and ASME NQA-1 requirements.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Regulatory teams to align supplier capability with project requirements.
- Participate in design and procurement reviews to assess supplier-related risks and quality impacts.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Essential
- Proven experience in a Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Quality Auditing role.
- Strong understanding of supplier quality assurance processes and quality management systems.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality management software.
- Ability to conduct supplier assessments and manage supplier performance improvement activities.
Desirable
- Experience within the nuclear industry.
- Working knowledge of CSA N299 and/or ASME NQA-1 quality standards.
- Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.
- Internal Auditor certification or equivalent.
- Experience with PPAP, FAI, and supplier process validation activities.
- Knowledge of Rotork or similar engineered products and manufacturing processes.
- Experience using statistical quality tools and techniques.
