Supplier Quality Engineer

Rubicon Consulting

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Supplier Quality Engineer on a 6 month rolling contract based in Lincoln.

Role Summary

Our Client is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join its Lincoln Main Works site, working within a team of 6 engineers covering the casting, coating and machining commodities. This is an operational quality engineering role, not an inspection role — the successful candidate will act as the critical link between external suppliers and internal manufacturing, ensuring parts are delivered on time, to spec, and that any issues are resolved quickly and permanently.

The internal customer is our Client’s own manufacturing operation, so the role is focused on protecting the production build line from supplier-driven disruption, rather than managing external client relationships.

Responsibilities

Operational

  • Manage supplier non-conformance, containment and root-cause resolution
  • Process and manage concessions where parts fall outside specification
  • Work hands-on with suppliers to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Manage change requests relating to parts, specs and processes
  • Take ownership of complex, difficult supplier problems (“heavy lifting”) through to resolution

Strategic

  • Hold weekly calls with suppliers to track performance and open issues
  • Act as the key point of contact for concessions and change requests
  • Visit supplier sites to build strong working knowledge of product and product line
  • Attend Critical Part Meetings, presenting issues and proposed solutions to leadership

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage daily with on-site Quality, Laboratory, Engineering, Project Management and Operations teams
  • Ensure on-time delivery of parts to the build line
  • Build and maintain a strong stakeholder network across a live production environment

Requirements

Essential

  • Strong engineering background with a relevant engineering degree
  • Specific hands-on experience with coating and/or casting machines
  • Genuine supplier quality/quality assurance experience — able to evidence tools and methods used
  • Working understanding and application of ISO 9001:2015
  • Manufacturing experience, ideally in a high-volume, transactional environment
  • Able to demonstrate root-cause analysis and improvement work against real constraints
  • Confident managing and updating trackers
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Strong communicator across all levels, including presenting to leadership
  • Resilient, with excellent attention to detail
  • Looking for a long-term / permanent-mentality placement, not a short-term contractor

Desirable

  • Quality experience from a comparable environment (e.g. gas turbine manufacturing or aerospace — significant crossover in standards and process)
  • SAP experience (can be trained — methodical approach is what matters)
