Supplier Quality Engineer

Shirley Parsons are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation within the defence sector to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a growing quality team.
Working closely with suppliers, engineering, purchasing and quality teams, you will be responsible for ensuring externally supplied products and processes meet demanding quality, regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Manage supplier non-conformances, leading containment actions, root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Support supplier development initiatives to improve capability, process control and overall performance.
- Review quality documentation, First Article Inspection Reports, inspection records and supplier certification packs.
- Develop and monitor supplier quality KPIs and reporting metrics.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to promote a positive quality culture throughout the supply chain.
What we're looking for:
- Experience working as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance professional within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, PFMEA or similar supplier quality methodologies would be advantageous.
- Experience using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis or A3
- Internal Auditor qualification desirable.
