Purpose

As Supply Chain Manager, you will be a key member of the Supply-Chain leadership team, with ownership and accountability for direct line management of Goods Receipt, Stores, Kitting, Despatch and Logistics, as well as ensuring functional integration and collaboration into Procurement, enabling a seamless handoff of responsibilities, cohesion and uninterrupted information and product flow.

This is a key role in shaping strategy, leading high-performing teams and enabling and unlocking both on time delivery to customer (programme) and upstream operational flow. This will be achieved through administering and managing processes of multiple supply-chain disciples to support ACS UK requirements, across two sites, for a thriving and dynamic environment in both OEM NPI and Aftermarket Spares, in a highly governed Aerospace industry.

This role offers a variety of mix and complexity, through varied customer requirements, diverse product and SKU’s, and other operational needs across the cells and valuestreams. This creates multiple challenges whereby effective leadership of the teams in cross-functional collaboration will be crucial to fully enable process performance, underpinned through a robust support and governance structure.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

- Lead and inspire teams across varied supply-chain disciplines, embedding a culture of high performance while upholding the highest standards and values of ACS UK

- Manage and support resource allocation, organizational efficiency and balanced load and capacity across the disciplines

- Drive continuous development in skills and capability through coaching, mentoring, training, succession planning and performance management techniques

- Build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships, fostering collaboration and trust

Multi-Discipline

- Deploy and implement effective methods, processes and governance for multi-discipline responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the following multi-discipline key processes;

- Logistics for supplier inbound flow / imports (and customer free-issue)

- Goods receipt and flow of product into inspection / stores

- Stores put-away and inventory / stock control management

- Picking and kitting operations to meet operational requirements

- Packing activities for customer order fulfilment / supply-chain activities (eg. Sub-con)

- Logistics for customer / supplier outbound flow / exports

- Drive cross-functional integration with Procurement, embedding new processes, technologies and ways of working to ensue process handoffs are seamless and effective

- Embed effective mitigation management to identify, evaluate and prioritise risks which otherwise would impact operational flow and / or attainment of customer (programme) delivery milestones

- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to resolve wide-ranging and varied process impediments (Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Operations and Programmes)

- Deliver operational performance against KPI’s across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP) in the varied disciplines, with clear direction on gap analysis and remedial actions

- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards across all disciplines

- Control and comply with policies, processes and global trade compliance requirements across all disciplines

- Provide support and input into functional and wider business governance, eg. production cell stand-ups

Other

- Lead / contribute input into functional continuous improvement initiatives and projects, to enhance efficiency and / or functional capacity

- Actively identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce cost, resolve bottlenecks and strengthen resilience across the supply chain

- Support input into budget, forecasts, business planning and monthly business reviews

- Represent the Supply Chain for (as required); leadership reviews, customer, quality and / or financial audits and assessments

- Act as deputy for the Head of Supply Chain as and when required

Knowledge, Education, Skills and Experience

Knowledge:

- Strong knowledge of end to end Supply Chain Management, with a bias towards stock management, warehousing and logistics

- Knowledge of operating within the Engineering / Manufacturing sector

- Knowledge of operating within OEM, Aftermarket and NPI (build-to-specification) low volume environments

- Strong working knowledge of Procurement principles

- Understanding of operating within MRP / ERP systems

- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Microsoft Project

Education

- Educated to degree level although experience and / or vocational qualifications are also valued

- CIPS qualification / Advanced Practitioner or equivalent is encouraged

- Ability to demonstrate continuous personal development

Professional experience

- Demonstrated experience (>7 years) in manufacturing, in Aerospace or a highly regulated industry

- Experience (> 3 years) of operating in an NPI, build-to-specification and low volume manufacturing environment

- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end Supply-Chain – stores, warehousing, kitting, despatch and logistics (>5 years)

- Experience of leading a multi-disciplined team >20, across supply-chain and Procurement is essential

- Understanding of end-to-end supply-chain planning and MRP systems is essential

- Experience in Procurement principles, negotiation, sourcing and contracting is desired
