Duration: Temporary post for 5–6 weeks
We are seeking a practical, enthusiastic, and reliable Support Staff member to join our team on a temporary basis for 5–6 weeks. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and wants to play an important role in supporting young people as they develop practical engineering and design skills.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a workshop environment and, ideally, have experience with woodworking, basic manufacturing processes, or similar practical skills. Whether you have worked in education, industry, or a trade, we are looking for someone who is organised, safety-conscious, and enjoys supporting others.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain workshop equipment, tools, and materials.
- Support teachers and students during practical lessons.
- Ensure the workshop remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Assist with woodworking, manufacturing, engineering, and practical project preparation.
- Carry out routine maintenance and stock control of workshop resources.
- Help create a safe, engaging, and professional learning environment.
- Support students in developing practical skills where appropriate.
- Is confident working in a workshop environment.
- Has experience with woodworking, carpentry, engineering, manufacturing, or similar practical trades (desirable).
- Has a good understanding of health and safety procedures when using tools and machinery.
- Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Has excellent communication skills and enjoys working with young people.
- Is flexible, reliable, and willing to support a busy technical department.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting is welcomed but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
