Support Worker (Ad Hoc)

Pay Rate: £13.17 per hour (Day Shifts) | Night Shifts Available

About the Role

We are recruiting for Ad Hoc Support Workers to provide flexible cover within a supported accommodation service for vulnerable adults. This role is ideal for experienced support workers seeking flexible shifts while making a positive difference to individuals working towards greater independence.

You will provide practical and emotional support to residents, helping them develop essential life skills, access local services, maintain their accommodation, and progress towards independent living.

Shift Pattern

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Ad hoc / bank shifts to cover holidays, sickness, and increased service demand
  • Weekend and bank holiday availability preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred support to vulnerable adults.
  • Support residents with independent living skills and daily routines.
  • Encourage participation in education, employment, training, and community activities.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to help individuals achieve their goals.
  • Promote dignity, well being, choice, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate support records, reports, and case notes.
  • Work in line with safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with residents and external agencies.
  • Support residents to access local services and resources.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within support work, supported housing, homelessness services, adult social care, mental health, or similar settings.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident record-keeping and report-writing skills.
  • Flexibility to pick up shifts at short notice when required.

Important

Due to the location of the service and the shift patterns, candidates must live locally or within a reasonable commuting distance. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desirable, particularly for night shifts and where public transport options are limited.
