Support Worker – Predominantly Day Shifts

Location: Alfreton, Derbyshire
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: Predominantly days, with flexibility to work nights when required
Day-shift times: 8:00am–8:00pm
Contract: Permanent

The Brookes Recruitment Group is recruiting a compassionate and reliable Support Worker for a specialist residential care service near Alfreton.

The service supports adults living with physical disabilities, complex physical needs and long-term neurological conditions. Its approach centres on personalised support, meaningful activity, community involvement and helping each person retain as much choice and independence as possible.

The role

As a Support Worker, you will help the people using the service live safe, meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing respectful and person-centred support
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Supporting individuals with daily routines and activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and personal choice
  • Helping people access the community and take part in activities
  • Monitoring wellbeing and reporting any concerns
  • Completing accurate care records and shift handovers
  • Working closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety and medication procedures
  • Supporting individuals with dignity, patience and compassion

About you

Previous care experience is not essential, and applications are welcomed from entry-level candidates with the right values and attitude.

You should be:

  • Compassionate, patient and respectful
  • Reliable and committed to providing consistent support
  • Comfortable assisting people with physical and complex needs
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Willing to learn and develop within the role
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Flexible enough to work both day and night shifts when required

Experience within residential care, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, complex needs or personal care would be beneficial but is not essential.
