Support Worker – 12-Month Maternity Cover

Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Full-time
Contract: 12-month maternity cover

Brookes HC Recruitment Ltd is recruiting two full-time Support Workers for a specialist care service in Poole.

The service supports adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental-health needs. We are looking for compassionate and dependable people who can provide person-centred support while promoting independence, dignity, choice and quality of life.

These are maternity-cover positions expected to last for approximately 12 months. Successful candidates will initially work through Brookes HC Recruitment Ltd under the agreed temp-to-permanent arrangement before transferring to the service for the remainder of the fixed-term contract.

Shift requirements

• Shifts will predominantly be days
• Applicants must also be flexible enough to work night shifts when required
• Exact shift times and rota patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process

Responsibilities

• Supporting individuals with their daily routines
• Providing respectful personal care when required
• Promoting independence, dignity and choice
• Supporting emotional, physical and social wellbeing
• Assisting individuals to participate in activities and engage with their community
• Following individual care and support plans
• Maintaining accurate daily records
• Supporting safe mobility and following moving and handling procedures
• Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred care
• Following safeguarding, health and safety, medication and infection-control procedures

Requirements

• Previous care or support work experience is preferred
• A compassionate, respectful and person-centred approach
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliability and flexibility
• Willingness to complete all required training and pre-employment checks
• Availability to work predominantly days while also covering nights when required
• An existing right to work in the UK
