Support Worker – Learning Disabilities & Autism

Location: Forest Gate, London – E7 0JT
Driving licence required – must be confident driving a manual vehicle

Temporary, Temp to Perm or permanent

Apex Recruit is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Support Worker to work within a small residential service supporting younger adults with learning disabilities and autism.

This is a lovely role for someone who enjoys getting involved, building relationships and helping people live as independently and actively as possible. The service supports a small number of residents and has access to transport for community activities.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be sitting around all day — you could be supporting residents with their daily routines, heading out into the community, going shopping, attending appointments or enjoying days out and activities.

The role will include:

• Supporting residents with day-to-day living
• Encouraging independence, confidence and choice
• Supporting with activities and hobbies
• Taking residents out into the community
• Accompanying residents to GP, hospital or other appointments
• Supporting with shopping, social activities and days out
• Providing emotional and practical support
• Completing care notes and handovers
• Working closely with the permanent care team

Driving is essential

You must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to confidently drive a manual vehicle.

Driving forms part of the role from time to time, as you may be required to take residents to appointments, activities and days out in the community.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, patient and genuinely enjoys supporting people
• Confident working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
• Reliable and flexible
• Comfortable getting involved in community activities
• A confident manual driver
• Able to communicate well with residents and colleagues
• Positive, energetic and able to make shifts enjoyable

Previous support work or care experience would be beneficial.
