The Role - Support Worker

We are looking for a confident, caring and experienced Support Worker to join a specialist SEN College in Croydon starting ASAP. As a Support Worker, you will work closely with young people who require additional behavioural, emotional, pastoral and practical support. You will support students with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties and complex learning needs.

The role will involve providing 1:1 and small-group support, helping students manage their behaviour, regulate their emotions, develop independence and remain engaged with their learning.

You will support students both inside and outside of the classroom, including during breaks, lunch and other less structured periods of the day. You may also support students around the college and help them transition between lessons, activities and different areas of the setting. As a Support Worker, you will build positive and trusting relationships with students, providing consistent support and encouragement throughout the school day. You will use appropriate behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when required and help students develop positive coping strategies.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider SEN team to ensure students receive the appropriate support to access learning, develop their communication and social skills, build independence and make positive progress. Experience with Physical Intervention, Team Teach or other behaviour management training is highly desirable.

The School - Support Worker

This is a specialist SEN College located in Croydon, supporting young people with a range of additional needs including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, challenging behaviour and complex learning needs.

The college provides a structured and supportive environment designed to help students develop academically, socially and emotionally. Staff work closely together to support positive behaviour, emotional regulation, engagement and independence.

The college has a strong focus on individualised support and positive behaviour management, with staff supporting students both within the classroom and across the wider college environment.
