Support Worker (Learning Disabilities) in Sheffield

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Learning Disability Support Worker to work with our client on an initial six-month temporary contract. The role is based in Sheffield, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Overview:
The successful candidate will support individuals with learning disabilities through a person-centred enablement service, with the aim of helping individuals develop the skills, routines and confidence needed to live as independently as possible in the community.
Main Duties:
- Support individuals with learning disabilities through a person-centred enablement service
- Support individuals to develop daily living skills including cooking, budgeting, domestic tasks and managing a tenancy
- Provide travel training and support with community navigation
- Support individuals with the use of assistive technology
- Support social and professional integration
- Work alongside individuals to help them develop independence and confidence
- Deliver tailored enablement plans and work towards specific independence goals
- Log progress and identify where barriers still exist
- Provide feedback on progress at the end of the enablement period
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Full UK driver’s licence with access to own vehicle
- Experienced in supporting individuals to develop independence and daily living skills
- Experience within an enablement, reablement or independent living setting
- Person-centred approach to supporting individuals
- Experience working within the community
