About the Role

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a leading social housing organisation in Blaenau Gwent to appoint an experienced Surveyor on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a varied surveying role covering disrepair, property adaptations, Damp, Mould & Condensation (DMC), stock condition, building defects and investment projects.

You'll provide technical surveying expertise, manage projects and contractors, and work closely with residents and internal teams to ensure homes are safe, compliant and well maintained.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Surveyor with strong technical knowledge, sound professional judgement and excellent communication skills.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in a similar surveying or property role, ideally within social housing.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction.
  • Experience of tendering and contract administration.
  • Experience managing building works, budgets and contractors.
  • Knowledge of WHQS and HHSRS.
  • Experience dealing with disrepair, DMC, property inspections or adaptations.
  • Strong tenant and stakeholder liaison skills.
  • Good problem-solving, organisational and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach.
  • You'll also need to be educated to Level 4 of the National Qualification Framework or be willing to work towards this.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Inspecting properties and carrying out stock condition and energy surveys.
  • Investigating building defects and managing remedial works.
  • Managing disrepair and DMC cases.
  • Delivering property adaptations.
  • Managing refurbishment and investment projects.
  • Preparing specifications, tenders and programmes of work.
  • Managing contractors, consultants and contracts.
  • Providing technical surveying and construction advice.
  • Supporting procurement and value for money.
  • Managing construction-related risks and compliance.
  • Liaising with residents, contractors and stakeholders throughout projects.

Working Pattern

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements. Typical hours are either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm.

Hybrid working is available, alongside regular site visits.
