Swimming Pool Engineer

Reporting To: Commercial Manager

Job Purpose

The Swimming Pool Engineer is responsible for carrying out routine servicing, planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs for both existing and new customers. The role also includes undertaking refurbishment works such as balance tank cleaning, filter media changes, pipework repairs, and plant room upgrades to ensure customer facilities remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Job Overview

Based in Partridge Green, West Sussex.

As a Swimming Pool Engineer, you will work on a variety of commercial and domestic leisure facilities, including:

Swimming Pools

Spas

Saunas

Steam Rooms

Associated plant and mechanical systems

The role involves working independently as well as part of a team. When working within a team, a designated supervisor will normally be appointed.

Due to the national nature of our business, overnight stays away from home will be required when necessary.

You will also participate in the Engineer Callout Rota, providing emergency breakdown support and essential works during evenings and weekends.

Your daily work schedule will be coordinated by the Service Manager, who will be your primary point of contact for operational matters. You will report directly to the Commercial Manager, who, together with the Service Manager, will oversee your performance, development, and training.

Key Responsibilities

Service & Maintenance

Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on domestic and commercial swimming pool systems.

Diagnose faults and attend emergency breakdowns and customer callouts.

Complete remedial works

Safely work within confined spaces where required (training provided).

Deliver work to a high standard whilst maintaining excellent customer service.

Administration

  • Complete job sheets, service reports, maintenance schedules, and timesheets accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work and any recommendations for further repairs.

Health & Safety

Work in accordance with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and all relevant legislation.

Carry out dynamic risk assessments before commencing work.

Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and ensure it is maintained in good condition.

Handle pool chemicals safely and in accordance with company procedures.

Maintain company vehicles in accordance with the Company Vehicle Handbook.

Promote safe working practices on every site.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

ISPE (Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers) Technician or Member qualification

Desirable

ISRM Pool Plant Operator qualification

Essential

Swimming pool servicing and maintenance

Water chemistry and water balance

Pool filtration systems

Heating systems

Safe chemical handling

Risk assessment awareness

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 2 year’s experience working within the swimming pool industry or as a Pool Plant Operator
