System Project Manager
Hamilton Barber Recruitment
We’re looking for an experienced Systems Project Manager to lead an important systems integration project for a purpose-led organisation.
This is much more than a technical systems project. You’ll be bringing together two key systems, but to do that successfully you’ll need to understand the organisation, its people, its processes and what different teams actually need from the end solution.
The opportunity
Working across the organisation, you’ll lead the project from requirements gathering through to integration and implementation.
You’ll spend time with different teams understanding how they currently work, what works well, what doesn’t and what they need from the new integrated system.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to ask the right questions. You’ll need to be curious and confident enough to challenge assumptions rather than simply accepting the first answer. Your role will be to get underneath what people are asking for and understand what they actually need, helping the organisation make the right decisions throughout the project.
You’ll bring structure to the project, manage priorities and stakeholders, identify potential issues and make sure everyone understands what is happening and when.
Just as importantly, you’ll need to take responsibility for driving the project forward. This is a role for someone who is self-sufficient, comfortable working autonomously and able to identify what needs to happen next without needing constant direction.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have experience of managing systems implementation, integration or transformation projects and be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
You’ll be a strong communicator who can build relationships across different teams and at different levels of an organisation. You’ll know when to listen, when to question and when to challenge.
You don’t necessarily need to be the person doing all of the technical work, but you do need to understand systems projects well enough to work effectively with technical specialists and translate between them and the wider organisation.
Above all, you’ll be someone who can take a project, get to grips with it quickly and drive it forward.
If you enjoy solving problems, bringing people together and making sure systems work for the people who actually use them, this could be a great opportunity to use your experience within a purpose-led organisation.
