You’ll work alongside experienced tax professionals and gain exposure to both US and UK taxation, developing the technical and client-facing skills needed to progress your career.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Associate, you’ll support the preparation of tax returns, tax compliance activities and tax research across a varied client portfolio.

This is a role suited to someone at the beginning of their UK tax career who is keen to learn, develop their technical knowledge and take on increasing responsibility over time.

You’ll work closely with the wider tax team, supporting Tax Managers and more experienced colleagues while additionally developing your understanding of US federal, state and local tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of US and UK individual tax returns
  • Gather and organise missing client information and documentation
  • Support the wider tax compliance process and ensure work is completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant tax legislation and compliance requirements
  • Conduct research into straightforward tax issues using appropriate and reliable sources
  • Use relevant resources including HMRC, IRS and other financial and tax information sources
  • Assist with client calls and meetings, taking comprehensive notes and gathering required information
  • Prepare annual tax return information requests to support tax preparation and planning
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and contribute to best practice
  • Maintain appropriate standards relating to GDPR, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, health and safety, and equality and diversity

Personal Profile

We’re looking for someone who is organised, analytical and keen to develop a career in tax. You’ll have strong attention to detail and be comfortable working as part of a collaborative team. You’ll also be confident asking questions, learning from more experienced colleagues and taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of your work.

  • A basic understanding of UK tax regulations
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in taxation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative and team-focused approach
  • The ability to work with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or tax preparation software such as CCH, Karbon would be advantageous

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous  experience in a tax-related role, including relevant internship experience
  • AAT or ATT in progress, or a willingness to work towards a relevant tax qualification

Hours and Benefits

  • Primarily office based with hybrid opportunities
