Description

  • Lead the preparation, review, and submission of corporate tax returns and statutory filings, maintaining robust supporting documentation and managing the recovery of R&D tax relief claims from HMRC.
  • Oversee VAT, PAYE, and wider indirect tax compliance activities, including supporting customs clearance processes for imported goods and liaising with clearing agents to ensure the accurate assessment and payment of customs duties and import VAT.
  • Manage the calculation of interim and year-end tax provisions for inclusion in statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with IFRS requirements, and collaborate with external auditors to agree tax disclosures for group financial statements.
  • Prepare and maintain corporation tax forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor and enhance the Group's tax governance framework, including policies, controls, systems, and procedures, ensuring effective support for the Senior Accounting Officer in fulfilling statutory responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement tax planning initiatives that optimise tax efficiency while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert tax advice and support across the business, including the assessment of transactions, commercial activities, and strategic projects, engaging external advisers where appropriate.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on the business and recommending appropriate actions to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.

Profile

  • Professionally qualified accountant or tax specialist (ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent), with demonstrable experience in corporate taxation and compliance.
  • Strong technical expertise in UK tax legislation, regulations, and HMRC guidance, with a thorough understanding of filing, reporting, and compliance obligations.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with a clear understanding of the relationship between financial reporting and tax accounting, including the tax implications of accounting treatments.

Job Offer

  • Salary between £75,000 and £85,000 FTE (the role is 3 days per week)
