Teacher – ASD / Complex Needs

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly specialist environment supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), complex needs, and sensory impairments.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a tutor group, providing high‑quality pastoral care and ensuring that provision outlined within each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is fully met.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding teaching and learning while promoting wellbeing, inclusion, and personal independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment aligned with the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning Manifesto
- Lead and support a class team to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning
- Assess, track, and report pupil progress effectively
- Prepare for and contribute to Person‑Centred Reviews
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, colleagues, and external professionals
- Develop best‑practice approaches and specialist skills to promote inclusion, equity, and pupil agency
- Support pupils with vision impairment (experience in this area is desirable)
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent)
- Is fully compliant with UK teaching roles
- Has previous experience working with ASD/Autism and Complex Needs
- Has experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings (essential)
- Experience with Vision Impairment is highly desirable but not essential
- Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
- Is passionate about delivering inclusive, pupil‑centred education
