- Salary:
- Qualified Teacher: £33,000 to £36,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)
- Unqualified Teacher: £23,393 to £32,000 per annum (depending on qualifications, experience and performance)
- Contract: Permanent
- Start Date: 1 September 2026
- Phase: Secondary (KS3, KS4 and KS5)
- Annual Leave: 10 weeks paid school holiday leave (50 days)
We are a specialist independent school supporting up to 45 young people aged 11 to 18. We provide a therapeutic, trauma-informed education for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those who have experienced significant adversity.

About the Role
You will deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons across a range of qualification pathways, including:
- Entry Level
- Functional Skills
- GCSE English
- Other qualifications tailored to individual learner needs
The ability to teach an additional subject would be advantageous but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality English lessons.
- Support students to achieve personal, social and academic progress.
- Assess, monitor and report on student attainment and development.
- Develop lesson plans, schemes of work and learning programmes tailored to individual needs.
- Create a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers and external professionals.
- Contribute to educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school life.
- Support pupils' wellbeing, aspirations and future career development.
- Maintain high professional standards in line with Teachers' Standards, Independent School Standards and Ofsted expectations.
- Is passionate about English and inspiring young people to learn.
- Has experience working with secondary-aged students.
- Understands, or is willing to learn about, therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Can build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Is adaptable, patient and committed to helping every learner succeed.
- Believes that every young person can achieve meaningful progress regardless of their starting point.
