Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Huddersfield to recruit a Behaviour Support / SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term position starting on 7 September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional behavioural, emotional, or SEN support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally.
The RoleAs a Behaviour Support / SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to support students both inside and outside the classroom. You will help create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, engaged, and motivated to succeed.
No two days will be the same, making this an ideal role for someone who thrives on building relationships and helping young people reach their potential.Important Informationā
This is a secondary school positionā
You must be comfortable working with students aged 11-16ā
Experience with secondary-aged pupils is highly desirableā
The ability to build positive relationships with teenagers is essential
What We're Looking Forā Experience working with young people within a UK school, alternative provision, SEMH setting, youth work environment, care setting, or similar setting within the last 2 yearsā Experience supporting students with SEN, MESH, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs would be highly beneficialā A calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic approachā Strong communication and teamwork skillsā The ability to build trust and establish positive working relationships with studentsā A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their best
