Destination Education is currently working with a number of welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary schools, and we are expecting a range of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available for September.
These roles will involve providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs within a mainstream primary school environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo, helping the pupil access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and feel fully included within the classroom.
We are expecting both full-time and part-time opportunities, making this a great option whether you're looking for a full-time role for the new academic year or something that fits around your existing commitments.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
- Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Help develop the pupil's confidence, independence, and social skills.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Build a strong and positive relationship with the pupil you are supporting.
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Previous experience working within a primary school is desirable.
- Experience providing 1:1 support would be advantageous.
- A patient, caring, and understanding approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
