About the Role

Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive mainstream primary schools across Leytonstone and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available.
We work on full-time, part-time, and supply opportunities, giving you the flexibility to find a role that works for you. These positions will involve supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, including 1:1 support within the mainstream classroom.
Supply work can also be a great way to get yourself something fixed. By working across different schools, you can gain valuable experience, build relationships with staff, and potentially find a school that is the right fit for you and leads to a longer-term or permanent position.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and feel fully included within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Help pupils access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Previous experience working with children is desirable.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.
- Experience providing 1:1 support would be beneficial.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working in education.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
