About the Teaching Assistant Role

Distinction Education is recruiting a General Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded primary school in Redditch, starting ASAP and continuing until July 2027.

This is a general classroom-based Teaching Assistant position working within a Reception class. You will work closely with the class teacher, supporting children with their learning, development and day-to-day classroom activities.

As part of the role, the Teaching Assistant will also provide some additional support to children within the class who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is not solely an SEN or 1:1 Teaching Assistant position; the successful candidate will support the Reception class as a whole while providing additional help to individual pupils when required.

The school is rated Good by Ofsted, has an excellent local reputation and is an oversubscribed primary school. It offers a supportive environment with a strong staff team and is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can become a committed member of the school community for the remainder of the academic year.

What We're Looking For

The ideal Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children in a primary school
  • Ideally have experience within Reception, EYFS or Early Years
  • Be confident providing general classroom support
  • Have some experience or understanding of supporting children with SEN
  • Be nurturing, patient and enthusiastic
  • Be comfortable supporting children individually and in small groups
  • Work effectively alongside the class teacher and wider school team
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be reliable and able to commit to the role until July 2027

A relevant Teaching Assistant, childcare or Early Years qualification would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
