We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Coniston.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive difference to students’ education, confidence and overall wellbeing.
About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across the secondary school. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students receive the individual support they need to engage with their learning.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting students during lessons and helping them stay focused and engaged.
- Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and preparation.
- Providing additional support to students who may require extra help with their learning.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students develop their confidence and independence.
- Supporting students with their social and emotional development where required.
- Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
- Helping to maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Providing encouragement and reassurance to students who may lack confidence.
- Following individual support plans and school policies where appropriate.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably within an educational setting.
- A patient, positive and supportive approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships with students.
- Confidence working alongside teachers and other school staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
