The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are working in partnership with an independent specialist school just outside Newark-on-Trent (NG24) to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. The school supports children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism and associated needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about specialist education to make a genuine difference within a supportive and welcoming school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Autism and additional learning needs
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum through personalised learning strategies and classroom adaptations
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider staffing team.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

About You:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, although strong Level 2 candidates will also be considered
  • Previous classroom support experience is essential
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly Autism, is highly desirable
  • Good working knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Level 3 qualification in Learning & Development (or currently working towards one)
  • A patient, resilient, and caring individual with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
