Monarch Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Handsworth, Birmingham, working within their Early Years SEND Hub. This is a full-time, ongoing role supporting young children with complex special educational needs and disabilities.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils in the Early Years SEND Hub, supporting children with a range of complex needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with complex SEND on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
  • Assisting pupils with communication, sensory, emotional, and personal development needs
  • Providing personal care where required, including toileting and changing
  • Promoting inclusion, engagement, and independence throughout the school day
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals, and parents/carers


Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Level 3 Childcare Qualification (essential)
  • Previous experience working with children with complex SEND needs
  • Experience supporting pupils within Early Years, SEND, or specialist education settings
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • Confidence in providing personal care support
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
