SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Hours: Monday–Friday, full school day

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity within a welcoming and inclusive primary school?
We are currently working with a fantastic primary school in Kingston who are looking to appoint a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong SEN experience who wants to build meaningful relationships with pupils and play an important role in their academic, social and emotional development.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and feel confident within the classroom.
You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to ensure pupils receive the consistent and individualised support they need.
The successful candidate will be someone who can build trust quickly, remain calm and patient, and understand that every child has different needs and ways of learning.
We are keen to hear from candidates who have genuine and substantial experience supporting children with SEN.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong previous experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Experience providing 1:1 and/or small-group support
  • A good understanding of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties and learning difficulties
  • The ability to adapt activities and communication to meet individual needs
  • A patient, nurturing and emotionally intelligent approach
  • The confidence to support pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to work closely with teachers and the SEN team
  • A genuine passion for helping children progress, develop independence and reach their potential
