About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 3 student with ADHD. This rewarding role involves working closely with both the student and teaching staff to ensure the student remains engaged, focused, and able to access learning effectively throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the student's academic progress, emotional wellbeing, organisation, and self-regulation, helping them navigate the demands of secondary school while building confidence and independence.
We're looking for a patient and resilient individual who can develop a positive and trusting relationship with the student while maintaining high expectations and promoting positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS3 student with ADHD throughout the school day
- Support the student in maintaining focus, engagement, and participation during lessons
- Implement strategies to support attention, organisation, time management, and emotional regulation
- Help manage transitions between lessons and different school environments
- Promote positive behaviour and support the student in meeting individual targets
- Build a strong, professional relationship with the student based on trust, consistency, and encouragement
- Monitor and report on the student's progress, wellbeing, and engagement
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH needs, or other SEND requirements
- A strong understanding of ADHD and the strategies that support attention, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Strong behaviour management, communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working within a secondary school setting (desirable)
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, SEND, or a related field would be advantageous but are not essential
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential
