About the Role:
You will support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a welcoming and inclusive school environment in Islington. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals both academically and socially.
We're looking for a compassionate and proactive candidate to:
- Support students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Assist in the delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support both inside and outside the classroom
- Encourage students' communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
- Support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal development
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour throughout the school day
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- An understanding of a variety of learning needs and strategies to support them
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant, Childcare or SEND-related qualifications) are advantageous but not essential
