SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Pay: £100 per day
Agency: Prospero Teaching
Can you spot when a pupil needs a different approach, adapt the task and help them get back into learning? We're looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant in Watford who brings that judgement to the classroom.
This role focuses on supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including autism, ADHD and speech, language and communication needs. You'll help pupils access lessons, build confidence and become more independent.
What you'll be doing
Providing individual and small-group support, following the teacher's planning and pupils' support plans.
Breaking activities into manageable steps and adapting resources.
Using clear routines, visual prompts and reassurance to support engagement.
Helping pupils manage transitions and regulate their emotions.
Feeding back useful observations to the class teacher and SENCO.
What we're looking for
Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Practical experience supporting children with additional needs in an education setting.
A calm, consistent approach and confidence adapting your communication.
An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
Experience using visual timetables, communication aids or structured interventions would be useful, but your ability to understand pupils and respond effectively matters most.
You'll work with a Hertfordshire consultant who understands SEND recruitment and will discuss the pupil needs and expectations with you before submission.
Apply with your CV for this SEND Teaching Assistant role in Watford, paying £100 per day. Please include your availability and a brief outline of your SEND experience.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory references, safeguarding checks and an enhanced DBS check.
