Teaching Assistant

Reeson Education are working on behalf of a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brentford who are seeking an experienced and nurturing Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with PDA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a PDA-specialist TA who understands how to build trusting relationships and use a calm, flexible and child-centred approach to help pupils feel safe, confident and engaged in school.

The role:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with PDA.

• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child.

• Support the pupil with their academic, social and emotional development.

• Use creative and flexible strategies to encourage engagement with learning.

• Help manage anxiety and reduce barriers to learning.

• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.

The ideal candidate:

• Has previous experience supporting children with PDA and/or ASC.

• Has experience working within a mainstream primary school.

• Is patient, nurturing, calm and adaptable.

• Understands the importance of building relationships and taking a child-centred approach.

• Can think creatively and adapt their approach to meet individual needs.

• Is committed to helping children develop confidence and independence.
