SANZA Teaching Agency is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity in education for a teaching assistant to become part of a thriving 4-form entry primary school in Hammersmith and Fulham. We're seeking support for a Year 1 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who communicates non-verbally.
The Role: As a dedicated teaching assistant, you'll be instrumental in delivering personalised one-to-one care for this student. You'll enable the child's engagement in classroom learning, encourage peer relationships, and champion their academic and personal growth.
Your Duties:
- Deliver tailored support to the autistic pupil, prioritising their safety and wellbeing
- Execute and monitor the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) alongside behaviour support strategies
- Support communication and speech development using alternative communication tools
- Work in partnership with classroom teachers and the SENCO to customise learning experiences
- Create an welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages peer connections
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with families, sharing updates on the child's development and update education and training
Essential Criteria:
- Proven background working with children on the autism spectrum or comparable additional needs
- Familiarity with non-verbal communication approaches and techniques
- Expertise in behaviour support methods with flexibility to personalise approaches
- Compassion, resilience, and authentic commitment to supporting children with additional needs
- Excellent communication abilities and collaborative working style with staff and families
