Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity within a supportive secondary school?

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Perry Barr, Birmingham, seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to engage with learning and achieve their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting teachers in the delivery of lessons across a range of subjects
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils
• Assisting students with varying learning needs and abilities
• Supporting classroom behaviour and promoting positive learning attitudes
• Helping to prepare learning resources and classroom activities
• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Encouraging student confidence, independence and engagement
• Contributing to the wider pastoral and academic support of students

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience working with children or young people
• Be patient, caring and enthusiastic about education
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Have a positive and proactive approach to supporting learning
• Be organised, reliable and adaptable
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or Youth Worker would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.
