Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity within a supportive secondary school?
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Perry Barr, Birmingham, seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to engage with learning and achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teachers in the delivery of lessons across a range of subjects
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils
- Assisting students with varying learning needs and abilities
- Supporting classroom behaviour and promoting positive learning attitudes
- Helping to prepare learning resources and classroom activities
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Encouraging student confidence, independence and engagement
- Contributing to the wider pastoral and academic support of students
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people
- Be patient, caring and enthusiastic about education
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Have a positive and proactive approach to supporting learning
- Be organised, reliable and adaptable
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or Youth Worker would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.
