We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Southport area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children in their educational journey and helping them achieve their full potential.

Working primarily on a 1:1 basis with pupils across KS1 and KS2 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), you will play a key role in supporting pupils' learning and development, working alongside class teachers and the wider school team to create an engaging and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEN across KS1 and KS2.
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and engage fully in classroom activities.
  • Implementing strategies and interventions to support individual learning and development needs.
  • Providing additional support to children who require extra help with their learning.
  • Encouraging children's confidence, independence and engagement in lessons.
  • Assisting with classroom preparation and general classroom duties.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils' social and emotional development.
Requirements
  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH or Speech and Language difficulties would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring and flexible approach to supporting pupils.
The Role
  • Location: Southport
  • Hours: 8:45am - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday
  • Start Date: 19th October
  • Duration: Long term, fixed-term position until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
